Accredited Laboratories

The Technical University of Sofia has five accredited laboratories:

Accredited laboratories are registered in both national and European registers. They are authorized to perform the activities for which they are accredited and to issue reports with their results. These results are recognized throughout the European Union and by all countries with which the EU has mutual recognition agreements.

Accreditation ensures that the laboratory strictly adheres to internationally recognized standards. For testing laboratories, accreditation is according to ISO/IEC 17025, and for inspection bodies, according to ISO/IEC 17020. This is the hallmark of technical competence and precision in laboratory activities worldwide.

According to ISO/IEC 17020 and ISO/IEC 17025 Standards, the laboratory’s expertise is guaranteed through on-site assessment by technical experts from an independent accreditation body authorized to perform this activity. The on-site assessment process involves a thorough review of the laboratory’s management system and quality system, evaluating all factors and technical characteristics necessary for obtaining reliable data:

  • reliability and quality of technical equipment;
  • competence and qualification of personnel;
  • validity and appropriateness of testing methods;
  • suitability, calibration, and maintenance of equipment;
  • quality assurance and data retrievability;
  • monitoring and documentation;
  • parameters of the working environment, etc.
